Trade discount chains

Wholesale catalogs often quote chains like 20% + 10% + 5%. Each percentage applies to the price left by the previous one, so the real cut is always smaller than the sum. This tool turns the chain into one honest number.

Comparing stacked offers

Use the combined discount figure to compare offers fairly: a 25% + 5% stack (28.75% total) beats a flat 28%, but loses to a flat 30%. Never compare by adding the headline percentages.

Triple Discount Calc FAQs

Is 20% + 10% + 5% the same as 35% off?
No. $100 with those three discounts costs $68.40, which is 31.6% off. The multipliers 0.80 x 0.90 x 0.95 = 0.684, so you pay 68.4% of the original price.
How do you calculate three successive discounts?
Multiply the keep-fractions: (1 - d1/100) x (1 - d2/100) x (1 - d3/100), then multiply by the price. Subtract from 1 and multiply by 100 for the combined percentage.
Does discount order change the result?
No. Multiplication order does not matter, so 5% then 20% then 10% gives the same final price as any other order of the same three discounts.
Where are triple discounts used?
Supplier price lists, distributor trade terms, and retail stacks of sale price plus coupon plus loyalty discount. Anywhere percentages layer, this math applies.
