How the reorder point works

The reorder point is daily usage x lead time, plus a safety buffer for demand spikes and late deliveries. When stock hits that level, you order; the shipment should arrive just as the buffer starts being used.

Order quantity logic

The suggested order tops you back up to your target days of cover. If you already hold more than the target, it suggests zero. It is a simple cover-based rule; for cost-optimal lot sizes, pair it with an EOQ calculation.

Stock Reorder Calc FAQs

How much safety stock do I need?
Start with 2-5 days of usage. Raise it for unreliable suppliers or spiky demand; lower it for perishables with steady sales.
What if usage varies a lot?
Use a conservative average (e.g. the 75th percentile of daily sales) rather than the plain mean, so peaks do not stock you out.
Does it account for supplier minimums?
No. If the suggested order is below the supplier's minimum, round up to the minimum.
Can I use it for multiple products?
Yes, one product at a time. Each SKU has its own usage rate and lead time.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything is computed locally in your browser.
