What CTR tells you

CTR isolates creative performance from budget: of everyone who saw the ad, what share clicked. A low CTR means the hook, image or offer is weak, while a high CTR with poor conversion points at the landing page instead.

CTR benchmarks by channel

Search ads often see 2 to 6%+, social feeds 0.5 to 1.5%, display banners under 0.5%. Compare only within the same placement: a 1% social CTR can beat a 3% search CTR on cost per customer.

CTR Calculator FAQs

How do you calculate CTR?
Divide clicks by impressions and multiply by 100. 1,200 clicks from 50,000 impressions is a 2.40% CTR.
What is a good CTR?
Above 2% for search, above 1% for social feeds, above 0.3% for display. Your own past campaigns are the fairest benchmark.
How can I improve CTR?
Sharpen the headline promise, show the product clearly in the image, add a specific call to action, and match the creative to the audience segment.
Does CTR affect ad cost?
Yes. Platforms reward engaging ads with lower CPCs and better placement, so a higher CTR often cuts your cost per click directly.
