ACOS vs ROAS

ACOS is the inverse of ROAS: a 20% ACOS equals a 5.0x ROAS (100 / 20 = 5). Amazon sellers quote ACOS because the ad console reports it that way; the math is identical, only the direction differs.

The only benchmark that matters

Your break-even ACOS equals your product margin before ads. With a 30% margin, any ACOS under 30% keeps the sale profitable. Chasing a low ACOS for its own sake can starve campaigns that would still make money.

ACOS Calculator FAQs

How do you calculate ACOS?
Divide ad spend by ad-attributed sales and multiply by 100. $300 spend on $1,500 sales is a 20% ACOS.
What is a good ACOS on Amazon?
One that sits below your product margin. Many sellers target 15 to 30%, but a 40% ACOS is fine on a 60% margin product and terrible on a 25% margin one.
How do you convert ACOS to ROAS?
ROAS = 100 / ACOS. A 25% ACOS equals a 4.0x ROAS. To go the other way, ACOS = 100 / ROAS.
Why is my ACOS over 100%?
Ad spend exceeded the sales it generated, often during launches or ranking pushes. It can be deliberate for keyword ranking, but it is not sustainable as an everyday target.
