How the math works

The tool subtracts clock-in from clock-out to get the raw shift length, handling overnight shifts that cross midnight automatically. Your break is subtracted to give true worked hours, which are multiplied by days per week for the weekly total. Anything past 40 hours is flagged as overtime.

Use it for timesheets and pay

Multiply the weekly total by your hourly rate for a quick gross-pay estimate, or use the daily figure to check a timesheet before submitting it. It is a calculator, not legal advice: overtime rules vary by country and contract.

Work Hours Calculator FAQs

Does it handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the tool assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours automatically.
What counts as overtime here?
Anything over 40 hours per week, the common standard. Your contract or local law may define it differently, so treat this as an estimate.
Should I include unpaid breaks?
Yes, enter unpaid break minutes so they are subtracted. Paid breaks that count as work time should be entered as 0.
Can I calculate pay too?
Multiply the weekly total hours by your hourly rate. The tool shows hours; pay math is left to you since rates and tax differ.
Is my schedule data stored?
No. Times are only used for the live calculation in your browser and are never saved or sent anywhere.
