Video muter

Strip the audio track out of a video file without re-uploading anything. The muted result exports as WebM, ready to download.

Mute your video

Pick a video file, then press Mute. The video plays through once while the muted copy is recorded.

How muting works here

Instead of uploading your video to a server, the tool plays it in a hidden player, captures just the video track, and re-records it without any audio. The result is a brand-new video file with the sound completely removed.

Because the video is re-recorded in real time, muting takes about as long as the video itself. Keep the tab in focus while it runs for the smoothest result.

About the WebM output

The muted file is exported as WebM, a modern open video format supported by all major browsers. Quality stays close to the original since only the container and audio track change.

If you need MP4 specifically, you can remux the WebM with any desktop converter afterward; the audio is already gone.

Video Muter FAQs

Why does muting take as long as the video?
The tool re-records the video in real time as it plays. A 2-minute video takes about 2 minutes to mute. This keeps everything local with no upload wait.
Will the video quality drop?
Barely. The video track is re-encoded once by your browser, so there can be a tiny quality change, but resolution and length stay the same.
Why is the output WebM instead of MP4?
Browsers can record to WebM natively without extra software. WebM plays everywhere modern browsers run, including YouTube and social uploads.
Can I mute only part of the audio?
No. This tool removes the entire audio track. To lower volume or mute sections, use a video editor instead.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The file never leaves your device; capture and recording happen entirely inside your browser tab.
