Photo mosaic maker

Build a photo mosaic: one main image recreated from dozens of tiny tile photos matched by color. Upload tiles, set the grid, and download the artwork.

Color-matched tiles

Each tile photo is reduced to its average color. The main photo is divided into a grid, each cell's average color is measured, and the closest-matching tile is drawn in its place. More tiles with varied colors give a mosaic that reads clearly from a distance.

Grid size trade-offs

More columns make the main image sharper but each tile smaller and harder to recognize. Fewer columns show off individual tile photos. 40 columns is a balanced starting point.

Photo Mosaic Maker FAQs

How many tile photos do I need?
At least 8, but 30 to 100 with varied colors works far better. Similar-colored tiles produce a muddy mosaic.
Why does my mosaic look blurry from close up?
That is normal. Mosaics are designed to be viewed at a distance, where the tiles blend into the main image. Step back or zoom out.
Can I reuse the same tiles?
Yes. Tiles repeat as needed; the matcher picks the best color fit for every cell independently.
What tile photos work best?
Bright, varied photos: travel shots, colorful objects, different scenes. Avoid all-dark or all-white sets.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. All matching and drawing happens on canvases in your browser.
