How watermarking works

Your PDF is loaded with the pdf-lib library right in your browser tab. The tool draws your text diagonally across the center of every page at the size, color and opacity you choose, then builds a new PDF for you to download. Because it never leaves your device, even sensitive documents stay private.

A note on watermark strength

Browser-based watermarks are drawn as a normal text layer, so they deter casual copying and clearly mark drafts, but they are easier to remove than watermarks applied by desktop publishing software. For legally critical documents, apply the watermark in a desktop tool and keep this as a fast everyday option.

PDF Watermark Tool FAQs

Which pages get the watermark?
Every page of the PDF gets the same diagonal watermark, centered and rotated at 45 degrees. There is currently no per-page selection; use the page extractor first if you only need some pages stamped.
Can I change the watermark position?
The watermark is always centered diagonally, which is the standard look for DRAFT and CONFIDENTIAL stamps. You can control the text, size, color and opacity to tune how prominent it is.
Does the watermark cover the original text?
No. At the default 25% opacity the text stays readable underneath the watermark. Raise the opacity if you want the stamp to dominate, or lower it for a subtle background mark.
My PDF is password protected. Will it work?
No, encrypted PDFs cannot be processed in the browser. Unlock the file in a desktop reader first, then watermark it here.
Is the watermarked file safe to email?
Yes. The download is a standard PDF that opens in any reader. Just remember the watermark is a visual deterrent rather than copy protection.
