What inversion does

Every channel is replaced by 255 minus its value: white becomes black, red becomes cyan, blue becomes yellow. It is the digital equivalent of a film negative, and it is perfectly reversible, inverting twice restores the original exactly.

Creative uses

Inverted photos make striking thumbnails and poster art, and designers use inversion to check contrast balance or create x-ray style graphics. Partial inversion around 30 to 50% gives a surreal solarized look.

Invert Filter FAQs

What does invert do to a photo?
It flips every color to its opposite: dark becomes light and each hue becomes its complement, like a photographic negative.
Can I undo an inversion?
Yes, perfectly. Inverting an image twice returns every pixel to its exact original value.
Why would I invert a photo?
For artistic negative effects, to make light UI mockups from dark screenshots, or to check the tonal balance of a design.
Does invert work on transparent PNGs?
Yes. The color channels are inverted but the alpha channel is untouched, so transparency is preserved.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The inversion runs on a canvas in your browser and nothing leaves your device.
