How scaling works

Each line is parsed as name, amount and optional unit. A multiplier scales every amount by the same factor, so ratios never drift. In target mode, pick one ingredient and its desired amount, and the tool derives the factor from it, scaling everything else to match.

Writing ingredients correctly

Use the format Flour: 250 g with a colon between name and amount. Lines without a parseable amount are carried through unchanged, so notes like a pinch of salt survive scaling untouched.

Ingredient Ratio Calc FAQs

Can I halve a recipe?
Yes. Set the multiplier to 0.5 and every amount halves. Any positive factor works, including 1.5 for a fifty-percent increase.
What if I only know the flour I have?
Use target mode: select flour, enter the grams you have, and every other ingredient scales to match that amount.
Do cooking times scale too?
No, and they should not. Times and temperatures barely change with batch size; watch doneness cues rather than multiplying the timer.
How are fractions handled?
Amounts stay decimal for precision (0.5 instead of 1/2). For kitchen use, round to whatever your scale or measuring cups handle.
Can I scale by servings instead?
Indirectly: if the recipe serves 4 and you need 6, use a 1.5 multiplier. Target mode with any single ingredient achieves the same result.
