Both images are stacked in one frame. The before image sits on top, clipped to the slider position, while the after image fills the frame behind it. Dragging the handle (or the range control below) moves the reveal line so you can inspect any part of the comparison.
Comparisons look best when both photos share the same framing and size. If the images differ in aspect ratio, they are fitted to a 16:10 frame with cover-fit, so slightly different sizes still compare cleanly.
