How the eyedropper works

Your image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser. When you click a pixel, the tool reads its exact red, green and blue values and converts them to HEX and HSL for you.

Large images are scaled down for display, but the sampled color always comes from the displayed pixel, so zoom-level accuracy is preserved for on-screen design work.

Using the picked colors

Every click is added to the history strip, so you can build a palette from one photo by clicking several spots. Click any history chip to copy that HEX code again.

The HEX value pastes directly into CSS, Figma, Canva, Photoshop and most design tools without any conversion.

Image Color Picker FAQs

Which color formats do I get?
HEX, RGB and HSL for every click. HEX is shown big for quick copying, RGB and HSL underneath for design tools that prefer them.
Is the picked color exact?
It is the exact pixel value from the displayed image. Note that JPEG compression can shift edge pixels slightly, so sample the middle of a solid area for the truest color.
Can I pick colors from a screenshot?
Yes. Save the screenshot as an image file first, then upload it here and click any pixel.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is drawn on a canvas locally in your browser and never leaves your device.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Upload a photo from your gallery and tap the image to sample colors, the same as clicking on desktop.
