Why the crop matters

Instagram tiles are perfect squares, so your photo is center-cropped to the grid's aspect ratio before splitting. Each tile is cut on exact pixel boundaries, which is what makes the puzzle look seamless on your profile with no visible gaps.

Posting order explained

Your profile grid fills from the bottom-right corner upward. That is why the tiles are numbered starting at the bottom right: publish tile 1 first and work upward, and the full image assembles correctly on your profile.

IG Grid Splitter FAQs

How many tiles should I use?
3 tiles (one row) is subtle, 6 tiles (two rows) is the popular puzzle look, and 9 tiles (three rows) makes the biggest statement. All use 3 columns to match Instagram's grid.
Will there be visible lines between tiles?
No, as long as you post the full set. Each tile is cut on exact pixel boundaries from the same image, so they align seamlessly on your profile grid.
What image size works best?
Use a photo at least 3240 px wide for a 3x3 grid so each 1080 px tile stays sharp. The splitter center-crops your photo to the grid ratio first.
In what order do I post the tiles?
Post tile 1 first, then 2, 3, and so on. Instagram fills the grid from bottom-right, so this order assembles the image correctly.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The split is done with the canvas API entirely in your browser.
