Reading archives locally

ZIP is an open format: the file ends with a central directory listing every entry. JSZip parses that directory in your browser, so listing contents is instant even for large archives, and each file is decompressed only when you download it.

What about other formats

This tool handles standard .zip files including DEFLATE and stored entries. RAR, 7z, and encrypted ZIPs use different formats and are not supported.

Can I extract password-protected ZIPs?
No. Encrypted archives cannot be opened here. Ask the sender for an unencrypted copy or the password-based desktop tool.
Is there a size limit?
Archives up to a few hundred MB work on desktop browsers. Each downloaded file is held in memory briefly, so very large single files may strain phones.
Can I download all files at once?
Download buttons work per file to keep memory low. For the whole set, download each file you need.
Does it work on phone browsers?
Yes. The extractor runs in any modern mobile browser, handy when you have no unzip app installed.
Is my archive uploaded anywhere?
