EXIF Viewer

See the hidden metadata inside your JPEG photos: camera model, exposure settings, date taken and GPS location. The file is parsed right in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.

PNG, WebP and screenshots usually carry no EXIF data.

What EXIF data is

Digital cameras and phones embed shooting details into every JPEG: the camera make and model, exposure time, aperture, ISO, focal length and the date the photo was taken. Phones often add GPS coordinates too. This viewer decodes the TIFF structure inside the JPEG's APP1 marker and shows the readable tags in a plain table.

Parsing happens locally with plain JavaScript, so your photos are never uploaded.

Mind your privacy

GPS coordinates in EXIF can reveal exactly where a photo was taken, down to a few meters. Social apps usually strip EXIF on upload, but files shared directly (email, chat, cloud links) keep it.

Check here before sharing sensitive photos, and strip location data with a metadata removal tool if you do not want it public.

EXIF Viewer FAQs

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The JPEG is parsed in your browser with plain JavaScript. It never leaves your device, which is the whole point of a private EXIF viewer.
Which formats have EXIF data?
EXIF lives in JPEG and TIFF files. PNG, WebP, GIF and most screenshots do not carry EXIF, so this tool will report no data for them.
Why does my photo show no GPS location?
Either location services were off when it was taken, or an app stripped the metadata. Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all remove EXIF, including GPS, on upload.
Why is there no EXIF data at all?
Screenshots, images saved by editors, and web-optimized exports usually have EXIF stripped. Only originals straight from a camera or phone reliably keep it.
Can I remove EXIF data with this tool?
This tool only reads metadata. To strip it, use a metadata remover or re-export the image; most editors have a strip metadata or export-for-web option.
