How the conversion works

A .docx file is really a zip archive containing XML. The tool opens that archive in your browser, reads word/document.xml, and pulls out the text of every paragraph in order. It then builds a fresh PDF with standard fonts and automatic word-wrapping, so the result is a clean, printable document.

What is preserved and what is not

All of your text and paragraph breaks carry over into the PDF. Images, tables, headers, footers and fancy Word styling do not, because faithfully rendering a Word layout would need a full word processor.
