How the weekday is found

The tool uses the Gregorian calendar rules your browser already knows, so it handles leap years and century rules correctly for any date in the practical range. Alongside the weekday you get the day-of-year number and exactly how many days separate the date from today.

Handy for planning

Check what weekday a future deadline or event falls on, settle bets about historical dates, or find which weekday your birthday lands on next. The distance readout makes it easy to see at a glance whether a date is this week or years away.

Weekday Finder FAQs

How far back or forward can I go?
Any date your browser accepts, comfortably covering years 1 to 9999. Dates before 1582 use proleptic Gregorian rules, which historians may treat differently.
Does it handle leap years correctly?
Yes. Century years like 1900 are not leap years, while 2000 is, and the calculation follows those rules.
What timezone is used?
Your browser's local timezone. The weekday of a date does not change across timezones, so the answer is the same everywhere.
Can I find what day my birthday was?
Yes. Enter your birth date to see the weekday, and use the Today button to compare with the current date.
Is anything I enter stored?
No. The calculation runs locally and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
