Distance-based keying

Every pixel's color is measured as a 3D distance from your key color. Pixels closer than the tolerance become fully transparent, pixels beyond tolerance plus softness stay opaque, and the band between fades smoothly. That gradient is what keeps hair and edges looking natural instead of crunchy.

Tuning tips

Start with tolerance around 60 and raise it until the background disappears, then add edge softness to smooth halos. If the subject wears green, lower the tolerance and accept a slightly less clean background to protect clothing.

Does this work on blue screens too?
Yes. Use the Blue preset or pick any key color with the color picker, white screens and solid-color walls work as well.
Why is there a green halo around hair?
Raise edge softness to feather the transition, or nudge tolerance up slightly. Fine hair against green is the hardest case for any keyer.
What if my subject wears green?
Lower the tolerance so only near-exact background greens are removed. Some manual cleanup in an editor may still be needed around green clothing.
What format is the download?
PNG with a real alpha channel, so the cutout composites cleanly over any background.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Keying runs per-pixel on a canvas in your browser.
