How counting works

Every day between your two dates is checked: Saturdays and Sundays are skipped, and any date you list as a holiday is skipped too. What remains is your business day count.

Choose whether the start and end dates themselves count. For a Monday-to-Friday deadline, inclusive counting gives 5; exclusive gives 3.

Planning with it

Project managers use business day counts to turn calendar deadlines into work effort, and HR teams use them to convert leave requests into actual days off.

Holiday lists are per-calculation, so paste your country's public holidays for the year to get exact results for your region.

Business Day Counter FAQs

Are weekends always Saturday and Sunday?
Yes in this tool. Regions with Friday-Saturday weekends should treat Friday as a custom holiday for exact results.
What date format do holidays use?
One date per line in YYYY-MM-DD format, for example 2026-12-25. Lines that do not match are ignored.
Does the end date count?
By default yes, both endpoints count. Uncheck the option to count only the days strictly between them.
Can I count backwards from a deadline?
Yes. If the end date is before the start date, the tool swaps them automatically and counts the same range.
Is a very long range okay?
Yes. Even multi-year ranges calculate instantly since it is simple date arithmetic in your browser.
