Audio Volume Changer

Upload an audio file, set the volume from 0% to 300%, and render a new WAV file. Handy for quiet recordings that need a boost.

Upload audio

Choose an audio file, set the gain, then render.

No file selected.

Tip: pushing quiet audio past 100% can reveal background hiss. For best results, keep the boost moderate.

How the volume change works

Your audio file is decoded into raw sound samples, played through a digital gain stage set to your chosen percentage, and re-rendered into a brand-new audio buffer. That buffer is then encoded as a standard 16-bit WAV file you can download and use anywhere.

Why WAV output

WAV is uncompressed, so the volume change is the only alteration: no re-encoding artifacts on top. The trade-off is file size, which is larger than MP3, but for a one-time volume fix the fidelity is worth it.

Audio Volume Changer FAQs

How much can I boost the volume?
From 0% (silence) up to 300%. Anything above 100% amplifies the recording, which is useful for quiet voice memos or interviews.
Will boosting cause distortion?
It can. If the original already peaks near maximum, amplifying will clip the loudest parts. Samples are clamped to avoid harsh digital overflow, but heavy boosts of loud audio may still sound crunchy.
Which input formats work?
Anything your browser can decode: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC and more. The output is always WAV.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, gain adjustment and WAV encoding all happen in your browser via the Web Audio API.
Why is the WAV file so large?
WAV stores every sample uncompressed at CD-style quality, so files are much bigger than MP3. That is the price of a lossless, artifact-free volume change.
