How speed changing works

Load any audio file and drag the slider, or tap a preset, to play it anywhere from quarter speed to four times speed. With pitch preservation on, voices stay natural instead of turning chipmunk-like, which makes it ideal for lectures, interviews and language study. The file plays locally through your browser's audio engine.

Playback, not conversion

This tool changes playback speed in real time; it does not create a new audio file. That keeps it instant and free with no waiting or uploads. If you need a permanently sped-up file to share, record the output or use a desktop audio editor.

Audio Speed Changer FAQs

Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page is loaded, everything including the audio decoding and speed control runs locally in your browser.
Why do voices sound funny at high speed?
Speeding up audio also raises its pitch. Keep Preserve pitch checked and your browser will correct the pitch so speech stays natural.
What audio formats are supported?
Whatever your browser can play: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC and more. If a file will not load, try converting it to MP3 first.
Can I save the sped-up audio as a file?
Not with this tool. It adjusts live playback only. To keep a permanent copy, record the playback or process the file in an audio editor.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Your file is played from your device's memory and never sent to any server.
