How browser audio conversion works

This tool loads a real audio encoder (FFmpeg) into your browser and runs the conversion on your device. Your file is decoded and re-encoded locally, then handed back to you as a download.

The engine download is about 30 MB and happens once; after that, conversions run offline and your files never touch a server.

Which format should you choose

MP3 is the universal choice for sharing and phones. WAV is uncompressed and best for editing. OGG Vorbis gives great quality at small sizes for the web, and WEBM with Opus is ideal for voice recordings.

Converting between lossy formats (like MP3 to OGG) cannot restore quality already lost, so keep a lossless original if you plan multiple conversions.

Audio Converter FAQs

Is there a file size limit?
Conversions run in your browser memory, so very long files may be slow on phones. Typical songs and voice recordings convert in seconds on a laptop.
Will converting reduce audio quality?
MP3, OGG and WEBM are lossy, so some quality is traded for smaller size. WAV output keeps full quality but makes larger files.
Can I convert video files to audio?
Yes, in most cases: upload the video and pick an audio output format, and the tool extracts just the audio track.
Why does the engine take a while to load?
The encoder is a 30 MB download fetched once from a CDN. After the first load it is cached by your browser for faster future visits.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is converted locally on your device and never sent to any server.
