How the t parameter works

YouTube reads a t parameter in seconds: watch?v=ID&t=90s starts 90 seconds in. The player seeks after load, so the link works in browsers, the mobile app and embeds alike. Hours work too: 1:02:30 becomes 3750 seconds.

Normalizing every YouTube URL shape

YouTube URLs come in many forms: watch pages, youtu.be shorts, /shorts/ paths and /embed/ paths. This tool extracts the 11-character video ID from all of them and rebuilds a clean canonical watch URL with the timestamp attached.

YT Timestamp Link FAQs

What timestamp formats are accepted?
Plain seconds (90), minutes and seconds (1:30), or hours, minutes and seconds (1:02:30). Anything the tool cannot parse gets a clear error instead of a broken link.
Do timestamp links work for Shorts?
Yes, the generated link uses the standard watch URL which plays the video at your timestamp. Shorts themselves are under 60 seconds, so timestamps matter less there but still work.
Can I link to the end of a video instead?
There is no end parameter, but you can link near the end with a large timestamp. For looping a segment, use the embed generator with start and end parameters instead.
Why does the video start a few seconds off?
YouTube seeks to the nearest keyframe, which can be 2 to 5 seconds before your timestamp on some videos. For frame-exact sharing you would need to trim and re-upload the clip.
Can I add a timestamp to an embedded video?
Yes, append ?start=90 to the embed URL. The embed player accepts start in seconds, and optionally end, which the plain watch URL does not support.
