How the conversion works

Paste your XML on the left and press Convert. The tool first parses the XML (treating each child of the root element as a row, keeping attributes as @-prefixed columns) into an internal table of rows and columns, then writes it out as Markdown Table (rendering header, separator and data rows with escaped pipes). If the input cannot be parsed you get a plain-English error instead of a broken file.

Where this comes in handy

People reach for this converter when pulling records out of XML feeds, sitemaps or API responses and a Markdown table is needed for docs or wikis. Because everything runs locally in your browser, it is also handy for quick one-off migrations without installing database tools or writing throwaway scripts.

XML to Markdown Table FAQs

Are XML attributes included in the output?
Yes. Attributes are exported as columns prefixed with @, so sku becomes @sku, alongside child elements like name and price.
What if my XML uses namespaces like ns:tag?
Namespaced tags are kept as-is for the column name, and any characters that are illegal in the target format are replaced with underscores.
Are pipes inside cells escaped?
Yes, as \| so the table structure never breaks no matter what the cell text contains.
Does it include the separator row?
Yes. A --- separator line is generated under the header, which is required for the table to render.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and conversion run entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your data never leaves your device.
