How the conversion works

Paste your XML on the left and press Convert. The tool first parses the XML (treating each child of the root element as a row, keeping attributes as @-prefixed columns) into an internal table of rows and columns, then writes it out as JSONL (writing one compact JSON object per line). If the input cannot be parsed you get a plain-English error instead of a broken file.

Where this comes in handy

People reach for this converter when pulling records out of XML feeds, sitemaps or API responses and line-delimited JSON is needed for data pipelines. Because everything runs locally in your browser, it is also handy for quick one-off migrations without installing database tools or writing throwaway scripts.

XML to JSONL FAQs

Are XML attributes included in the output?
Yes. Attributes are exported as columns prefixed with @, so sku becomes @sku, alongside child elements like name and price.
What if my XML uses namespaces like ns:tag?
Namespaced tags are kept as-is for the column name, and any characters that are illegal in the target format are replaced with underscores.
Is there a trailing newline at the end?
No. Lines are joined with newlines and there is no extra blank line at the end of the file.
How is each line structured?
Each line is one compact JSON object. For table inputs the keys are the column names; for document inputs like TOML each line holds one nested object.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and conversion run entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your data never leaves your device.
