How splitting works

The tool divides your text four ways: a fixed number of lines per part, a fixed number of characters, a custom delimiter, or a target number of roughly equal parts. Each part gets its own download button as a plain .txt file.

Line-based splitting keeps whole lines together, which is ideal for logs and CSV rows. Character splitting is exact but may cut mid-word.

Typical uses

Split huge logs so each chunk fits in an email attachment, break a long article into social-media-sized pieces, or divide a CSV export into batches for an importer with row limits.

Files are loaded with a 5 MB cap to keep the browser responsive. Everything is processed locally, so sensitive logs never leave your machine.

Text File Splitter FAQs

What is the maximum text size?
Loaded files are capped at about 5 MB to keep the browser fast. Pasted text of similar size works too; very large inputs may slow down older devices.
Will splitting break my CSV rows?
Use lines mode with a multiple of your row count, or delimiter mode on a row separator, and rows stay intact. Character mode can cut mid-row, so avoid it for CSV.
Can I download all parts at once?
Each part has its own download button. Browsers block multi-file auto-downloads, so one click per part is the reliable approach.
Does delimiter mode remove the delimiter?
The delimiter itself is removed, like a standard split. If you need it kept, choose a delimiter that includes surrounding text, or re-add it after.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser.
