Formats and detection

The tool detects SRT (numbered cues, comma milliseconds) and VTT (WEBVTT header, dot milliseconds) automatically. Output uses the target format's timestamp style, and VTT output includes the required header line.

Shifting and renumbering

Enter positive or negative seconds to fix out-of-sync subtitles; cues shifted before zero are dropped. Renumbering rebuilds cue numbers sequentially, useful after deleting or merging cues.

Subtitle Converter FAQs

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?
SRT is the simple legacy format; VTT adds web features like styling and positioning. Most players read both.
Will styling survive conversion?
VTT cue settings and tags are dropped; text and timing are preserved. SRT has no styling to lose.
Why were some cues skipped?
Cues with unparseable timestamps or end-before-start times are skipped and the count tells you how many converted.
Can it merge two subtitle files?
Paste them together first, then convert with renumbering on to rebuild the sequence.
Are my subtitles uploaded?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.
