What gets stripped

Headings, bold and italic markers, inline code backticks, fenced code blocks (content kept), links and images (link text kept, URLs dropped), blockquotes, ordered and unordered list markers, and horizontal rules.

Why strip Markdown

Plain text is easier to paste into email clients, word counters, and systems that render raw asterisks literally. Stripping gives you the readable words without the syntax.

Strip Markdown FAQs

Does it keep link text?
Yes. [click here](https://example.com) becomes click here. The URL is dropped and the readable anchor text stays.
What happens to code blocks?
The fence markers are removed but the code inside is kept as plain text, so nothing you wrote is lost.
Does it remove images?
The image markup is removed and the alt text is kept, so ![logo](logo.png) becomes logo.
Will headings stay readable?
Yes. The # markers are removed and the heading text remains on its own line, reading like a normal paragraph title.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you paste ever leaves your device.
