What each statistic means

Count, sum, min, max and range describe the shape of your data; mean, median and mode describe its center; variance and standard deviation describe its spread. Both population and sample standard deviation are shown so students and analysts each get the version their formula needs.

How numbers are parsed

Paste values separated by commas, spaces, semicolons or line breaks, in any mix. Anything that is not a valid number is ignored, and the count shown reflects only the values actually analyzed.

Statistics Calculator FAQs

Population vs sample standard deviation?
Population divides by N and describes the full dataset you have. Sample divides by N-1 and estimates the spread of a larger group your data was drawn from. Use sample when your numbers are a subset of something bigger.
Why does it say there is no mode?
The mode is the most frequent value. When every number appears exactly once there is no repeat, so no mode exists and the tool says so instead of inventing one.
Can I paste data from Excel?
Yes. Copy a column from Excel or Google Sheets and paste it here; the line breaks are parsed automatically along with commas and spaces.
How many numbers can it handle?
Tens of thousands compute instantly. The math is simple arithmetic over an array, so even large pasted datasets stay responsive.
Does it do regression or charts?
No. This is a descriptive-statistics tool: centers, spreads and extremes. For trend lines and visualizations, export your data to a spreadsheet.
