How the test works

Stereo sound carries separate left and right channels. This tool uses the Web Audio API to play a pure sine tone panned fully left, fully right, or centered, so you can verify each speaker or earbud plays the correct channel and that neither side is dead or swapped.

Interpreting the result

Use headphones for the clearest result: you should hear the tone only in the matching ear. On speakers, walk between them. If left plays on the right, your channels are swapped; if one side is silent, check the cable, balance settings or the driver.

Speaker Stereo Test FAQs

How do I check my speakers?
Click Test Left. You should hear the tone only from the left speaker or left earbud. Then Test Right for the right side, and Test Center to confirm both play together at equal volume.
Left plays on the right. What is wrong?
Your left and right channels are swapped somewhere: in the cable wiring, the sound card settings, or the speaker placement. Swap the speakers or fix the balance in your OS audio settings.
One side is silent. What should I check?
First check the OS volume balance slider, then the cable and connectors, then try another device. If one side stays silent across devices, the speaker or earbud itself is likely dead.
What frequency should I use?
Use the frequency slider. Low tones (100-200 Hz) test bass response, mid tones (440 Hz) test clarity, and high tones (1000-2000 Hz) test tweeters. Stop if anything sounds distorted.
Does this test record audio?
No. It generates a short sine tone locally with the Web Audio API. Nothing is recorded, uploaded or stored.
