What a sitemap does

An XML sitemap lists the pages you want search engines to crawl, which helps new or updated content get discovered faster. It is especially useful for new sites with few backlinks and for large sites with deep page hierarchies.

Submit the finished file in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and reference it from your robots.txt.

Clean URLs in, valid XML out

The generator normalizes each URL, strips duplicates, and skips malformed lines with a report of what was dropped. Change frequency and priority are applied uniformly, and today's date becomes the last-modified stamp.

The output follows the sitemaps.org protocol, so it validates with every major search engine.

Sitemap Generator FAQs

How many URLs can a sitemap hold?
The protocol allows 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed per file. Larger sites split into multiple sitemaps under a sitemap index.
Does priority affect my rankings?
Not directly. Priority is a hint about relative importance within your own site; Google treats it as a weak signal.
What changefreq should I pick?
Match reality: daily for news, weekly for blogs, monthly or yearly for static pages. Search engines verify against actual change patterns.
Where do I upload sitemap.xml?
To your domain root (example.com/sitemap.xml), then submit that URL in Search Console and link it from robots.txt.
Will a sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. It helps discovery, but indexing still depends on content quality and crawl budget.
