The simplest spread measure

The range is the distance from the smallest to the largest value: max minus min. It is the quickest sense of how spread out data is, though a single outlier can inflate it, which is why the midrange (max + min) / 2 is shown alongside as a center point.

Flexible input

Paste numbers separated by commas, spaces, semicolons, or line breaks; the parser accepts them all. The tool shows a sorted preview so you can spot typos or stray values before trusting the result.

Range Calculator FAQs

What is the range of 12, 7, 19, 4, 22, 9?
Max 22 minus min 4 = 18. These values are preloaded so the answer shows immediately.
What is the midrange?
(max + min) / 2. For the default data that is (22 + 4) / 2 = 13. It is a quick center estimate.
Can I paste data from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Copy a column or row and paste it; commas, spaces, tabs, semicolons and new lines are all accepted as separators.
Why is range sensitive to outliers?
One extreme value moves the max or min directly, stretching the range. For outlier-resistant spread, use the IQR tool instead.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and math happen entirely in your browser.
