How the estimate works

Your pasted HTML is measured in bytes, then a gzip factor (~32%) estimates the compressed transfer size, since servers compress text. External assets you list are added on top. The total divided by the chosen connection speed gives the load-time estimate.

Reading the breakdown

The tag census (images, external vs inline scripts, stylesheets, iframes) shows where the weight lives. Images are usually the biggest win: modern formats and responsive sizes often cut page weight in half.

Page Size Calculator FAQs

Why estimate instead of measuring the live page?
Browsers block cross-site fetching, so a client-side tool cannot download arbitrary URLs. Pasting view-source gives the same HTML bytes the estimate needs.
How accurate is the gzip estimate?
Within a reasonable range for HTML/CSS/JS (typically 25-35% of raw). Already-compressed assets like JPEGs barely shrink; list those at full size.
What is a good page weight?
Under 500 KB is excellent, under 1.5 MB is acceptable, and anything over 3 MB will feel slow on mobile networks.
Does it count cached assets?
No. It estimates a cold load. Repeat visits are faster thanks to browser caching.
Is my HTML uploaded?
No. Everything is measured locally in your browser.
