How the conversion works

Paste your MD Table on the left and press Convert. The tool first parses the MD Table (reading the header row, the --- separator and each data row, honoring \| escapes) into an internal table of rows and columns, then writes it out as INI (writing one [row_N] section per record). If the input cannot be parsed you get a plain-English error instead of a broken file.

Where this comes in handy

People reach for this converter when reusing tables from READMEs, wikis or notes and a classic INI config file is needed. Because everything runs locally in your browser, it is also handy for quick one-off migrations without installing database tools or writing throwaway scripts.

MD Table to INI FAQs

Will it work with tables from GitHub READMEs?
Yes. Standard GitHub flavored Markdown tables parse correctly, with or without leading and trailing pipes.
Does the separator row matter?
Yes. The line of dashes (---) marks where the header ends and the data begins. Alignment hints like :---: or ---: are accepted and ignored.
How are rows mapped to INI sections?
Each row becomes its own [row_N] section with column = value pairs, since INI has no native table concept.
What about values with special characters?
Values containing quotes, semicolons or hashes are double-quoted, following common INI conventions.
Is this converter free to use?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no usage caps.
