How the editor works

Type Markdown on the left and a hand-written parser renders it to HTML on every keystroke: headings, bold, italic, links, images, lists, blockquotes, code spans, fenced code blocks and horizontal rules. The preview is real HTML, so the Copy HTML button gives you markup ready to paste into a CMS.

Markdown in one minute

Hash signs make headings, asterisks make lists and emphasis, backticks mark code, and square brackets plus parentheses make links. It is the fastest way to write formatted text without touching a mouse, and it powers README files, docs and most developer blogs.

Which Markdown features are supported?
Headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks, links, images, bullet and numbered lists, blockquotes and horizontal rules.
Are tables supported?
Not in this version. Tables need a more complex parser; the editor focuses on the most-used formatting features.
How do I save my work?
Use Download .md to save the raw Markdown file. Your text is not auto-saved, so download before closing if it matters.
Can I paste the HTML into WordPress?
Yes. Copy HTML gives you clean markup that pastes into WordPress's HTML block or any CMS that accepts raw HTML.
Is my writing sent anywhere?
No. Parsing and preview happen entirely in your browser.
