How kebab-case works

kebab-case lowercases everything and joins words with hyphens: Hello World Example becomes hello-world-example. It is the standard for URL slugs, CSS class names, HTML attributes, and command-line flags.

Handles any input format

camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and spaced text are split into words before joining with hyphens. Numbers are preserved, so version 2 release becomes version-2-release, a clean URL-friendly slug.

Kebab Case FAQs

What is kebab-case used for?
URLs (my-blog-post), CSS classes (nav-menu-item), HTML data attributes, and CLI flags (--dry-run) all use kebab-case. Search engines also prefer hyphens over underscores in URLs.
How do I make a URL slug from a title?
Paste the title in. The converter lowercases it, replaces spaces with hyphens, and strips the separators, giving you a slug like how-to-bake-bread ready to paste into your CMS.
What is the difference between kebab-case and snake_case?
Only the separator: kebab-case uses hyphens (my-variable), snake_case uses underscores (my_variable). Use hyphens for URLs and CSS, underscores for Python and databases.
Does it remove special characters?
Characters used as word separators are removed and replaced by hyphens. Letters and digits are kept, lowercased, and joined.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you paste ever leaves your device.
