JSON to Zod Schema

Turn JSON into Zod validation schemas that parse and type check API data at runtime. Nested objects, arrays, and optional fields are inferred for you.

JSON input

Paste JSON, optionally name the root type, then generate.

Runtime safety from a sample

Types disappear at runtime, but Zod schemas do not. This tool converts a representative JSON payload into z.object schemas that reject malformed data before it reaches your logic. Generate the schema, paste it into your project, and call .parse on every API response.

From schema to TypeScript types

Every Zod schema carries its static type: use z.infer to get the TypeScript type for free. That means one definition gives you both runtime validation and compile time types, with no duplication.

JSON to Zod Schema FAQs

What is Zod used for?
Zod validates data at runtime in TypeScript projects. You define a schema, then call schema.parse(data) to check an API response and get a fully typed result in one step.
How are optional fields expressed?
Fields that are missing in some array items or null in the sample get .optional(), so the schema accepts records that omit them, just like real APIs do.
Does it handle nested objects?
Yes. Each nested object becomes its own const ...Schema, and the parent references it, so the output stays readable even for deeply nested payloads.
What about numbers that must be integers?
Whole numbers become z.number().int(), while decimals become z.number(). This catches fractional values where your code expects an integer id or count.
Can I use this with React Hook Form?
Yes. Zod schemas plug directly into React Hook Form, tRPC, and most modern form libraries through their zodResolver adapters.
