JSON to PropTypes

Generate React PropTypes from JSON prop shapes. Nested shapes, arrays of objects, and isRequired flags are inferred from your sample.

JSON input

Paste JSON, optionally name the root type, then generate.

Your PropTypes code will appear here.

Runtime prop contracts

PropTypes are React's built in way to document and check component inputs. The generator converts a sample props object into a Component.propTypes block, so mismatched data surfaces as a console warning during development.

Shapes that mirror your API

When your component renders API data directly, generating PropTypes from a real response guarantees the declared contract matches what the backend actually sends.

JSON to PropTypes FAQs

What are PropTypes for?
PropTypes validate React component props at runtime in development, warning you in the console when a parent passes the wrong shape.
How is isRequired decided?
Fields present in every sampled record get .isRequired. Fields that were null or missing stay optional, matching how the data actually varies.
How are nested objects handled?
Nested objects become PropTypes.shape({...}), which validates each key inside, exactly mirroring the JSON structure.
How are arrays typed?
Arrays become PropTypes.arrayOf(...), with the element validator inferred from the items, including arrayOf(shape()) for lists of objects.
Should I use PropTypes or TypeScript?
TypeScript catches errors at compile time and is the modern default. PropTypes still help in plain JavaScript projects and for runtime warnings in dev.
