Schema for schemaless data

MongoDB itself is schemaless, but applications need contracts. This generator derives a Mongoose schema from a sample document, so your collection gets validation without hand translating every field.

From sample to model

Paste a real document from your collection, generate the schema, and wrap it with mongoose.model(). You get casting, validation, and TypeScript friendly structure in one step.

JSON to Mongoose FAQs

What is a Mongoose schema?
A Mongoose schema defines the shape of documents in a MongoDB collection: field types, required flags, and defaults. Models built on it give you validation and query helpers.
How are required fields decided?
Fields present in every sampled record become required: true. Fields that were null or missing stay optional, so real world variance does not break validation.
How are nested objects handled?
Each nested object becomes its own sub schema constant, which keeps the parent readable and lets you reuse the subdocument shape elsewhere.
How are arrays represented?
Arrays become typed arrays like [String] or [projectSchema], so Mongoose casts and validates every element on save.
Do I need to add an _id?
No. Mongoose adds _id automatically to documents and subdocuments unless you disable it, so the generated schema focuses on your data fields.
