What counts as a number

Integers, decimals, negative values, and thousands-separated figures like 1,000,000 are all detected. Each match is listed exactly as written, preserving your source formatting.

Sort for quick analysis

Sorting arranges the numbers alphabetically as text. For true numeric ordering, paste the list into the Sort Lines by Number tool, which compares actual values.

Extract Numbers FAQs

Does it find decimals?
Yes. Values like 3.14 and 99.99 are extracted whole, not split at the decimal point.
Does it find negative numbers?
Yes. A minus sign directly before digits is included, so -5 and -12.5 are extracted as negatives.
What about 1,000 with a comma?
Thousands separators are kept with the number, so 1,000 extracts as one value rather than 1 and 000.
Can I pull figures from a report?
Yes. Paste the report text and every figure appears on its own line, ready to copy into a spreadsheet for analysis.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you paste ever leaves your device.
