How it works

Choose the source type, enter the authors (one per line as "Last, First"), year, title and publisher or URL, then press Generate. You get the same source formatted in APA 7th, MLA 9th and Chicago author-date styles, each with its own copy button so you can paste straight into your bibliography or reference list.

Check before submitting

Automated citations cover the common cases well, but style guides have edge cases: translators, editions, DOIs, and sources with no author all need manual attention. Always compare the output with your institution's style guide before submitting academic work.

Citation Generator FAQs

Which citation styles are supported?
APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition and Chicago author-date, for books, websites and journal articles.
How do I enter multiple authors?
Put one author per line in the authors box, written as Last, First. The tool formats the list correctly for each style, including et al. rules.
What if there is no publication year?
Leave the year blank and the tool uses n.d. (no date), which is the standard placeholder in APA and Chicago.
Should I trust this for my thesis?
It is a solid starting point, but always verify against your official style guide. Edge cases like translators, editions and DOIs may need manual fixes.
Is my source data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is formatted in your browser; your entries never leave your device.
