How bulk renaming works

Your files never leave the browser: the tool reads only their names, applies your pattern (find-and-replace, prefix, numbering, suffix, letter case) to build new names, and shows a full old-to-new preview. Pressing download saves each file again under its new name, one after another.

Understanding the pattern order

Operations apply in this order: find-and-replace on the base name, then prefix, then the padded number, then the original base, then suffix, then the extension. So prefix photo-, number 007 and suffix -final turn beach.jpg into photo-007beach-final.jpg.

Bulk File Renamer FAQs

Are my original files changed or uploaded?
Neither. The browser cannot overwrite files on your disk; it creates fresh downloads with the new names. Your originals stay exactly where they were.
Why do downloads happen one by one?
Browsers only allow one download per click without extra permission, so the tool spaces them out. If your browser asks, allow multiple downloads from this site to get them all.
What does number padding do?
Padding 3 turns number 7 into 007, so files sort correctly in every file manager. Without padding, photo-10 would sort before photo-2.
Can I remove part of the filename?
Yes. Put the unwanted text in Find and leave Replace with empty; every occurrence is deleted from the base name.
Is there a file count limit?
No fixed limit, but renaming hundreds of files triggers hundreds of downloads, which gets tedious. For very large batches a desktop renamer is more practical.
