How trimming works

Your file is decoded with the Web Audio API and drawn as a waveform so you can see quiet and loud parts. Drag the start and end sliders: the dimmed regions fall outside the cut and green markers show the exact boundaries. Play selection auditions the cut before you commit.

Export writes a standard 16-bit WAV of just the selected range.

Private and offline-friendly

Decoding, preview and encoding all happen on your device; the audio is never uploaded. Export is WAV because it is lossless and every editor opens it; convert to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file.

Very long files are limited by browser memory, so this tool suits clips and songs rather than hour-long recordings.

Audio Trimmer FAQs

Which audio formats can I trim?
Anything your browser can decode: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A and more. If a file will not decode, re-export it as WAV or MP3 in another app first.
Why is the export WAV and not MP3?
WAV is lossless and trivial to encode in plain JavaScript with no libraries. MP3 encoding needs a heavy library; export WAV here and convert afterwards if size matters.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. Decoding, waveform drawing, preview playback and WAV encoding all run locally in your browser.
How precise is the cut?
Sample-accurate within the decoded audio. The sliders quantize to 0.1% of the duration; for very long files zoom mentally by trimming in passes.
Can I fade the cut in or out?
Not in this tool; cuts are hard edits. Apply fades in a full editor like Audacity after exporting the trimmed WAV.
