What counts as an anagram

Two texts are anagrams when they contain exactly the same letters in the same quantities, like listen and silent, or astronomer and moon starer. Case, spaces and punctuation do not matter.

The tool strips everything but letters (accents are normalized too), then compares letter frequencies one by one.

Reading the comparison table

Matching letters show equal counts in both columns. Rows highlighted red reveal exactly which letters differ, so you can see at a glance why two phrases fail, for example one extra E.

This frequency view also helps puzzle solvers verify partial matches while hunting for full anagrams by hand.

Anagram Checker FAQs

Are anagrams case-sensitive?
No. The checker ignores case, spaces and punctuation, so Listen and SILENT match. Only the letters themselves are compared.
Do accents matter?
Accents are normalized away, so cafe and face compare as anagrams. This matches how most word puzzles treat accented letters.
Can it find anagrams for me?
No, this tool only checks two texts you provide. It does not search a dictionary for possible rearrangements.
Why do phrases with different lengths fail?
Anagrams must use exactly the same multiset of letters, so different total letter counts can never be anagrams of each other.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser.
