Sorting options

Sort A to Z or Z to A with a single click. Case-insensitive sorting treats Apple and apple as neighbors, which matches how most people expect lists to order.

Duplicate removal keeps the first occurrence of each line, and blank-line cleanup tidies lists pasted from spreadsheets or documents.

Everyday uses

Alphabetize name lists, bibliographies, ingredient lists, or keyword sets before publishing. Numbered output turns a sorted list into a ready-made ranked rundown.

Because it works line by line, multi-word entries sort by their first character, just like a dictionary.

Alphabetical Sorter FAQs

Does it sort by the whole line or first word?
The whole line, character by character, like a dictionary. Banana bread sorts under Banana, before Berry.
How does duplicate removal treat case?
It follows the case setting. With ignore-case on, Apple and apple count as duplicates and only the first is kept.
Can I sort numbers correctly?
Lines sort as text, so 10 comes before 9. For numeric sorting, pad numbers or use a spreadsheet.
What counts as a blank line?
Lines with only spaces or tabs. They are removed when the option is checked, keeping your list compact.
Is my list uploaded anywhere?
No. Sorting happens entirely in your browser, so private lists stay private.
